It was a day of perfect spring weather - the first warm day of the season that promises a prickly sunburn - designing flowers outside with nearly all local and foraged ingredients for Type A Society's styling project for Greenhill Winery, photographed by Abby Jiu. I worked on a wooden table under the shade of a massive tree, overlooking bucolic rolling hills and a little pond. Just when you thought the scene couldn't be a more perfect representation of Middleburg, Virginia's equestrian countryside, a couple of gents on horses rode past. I bit my tongue to keep from saying "good day, sir" in my best cockney accent.
This hunt country wedding inspiration was featured in print and online this fall in Wedding Unveiled Magazine. Meanwhile, the azalea plant carcass I butchered for this shoot remains memorialized on my back deck of death.
It was surreal to work with some of the area's most inimitable creatives, making the sunburn all the more worth it...
