Last summer, Sally and Robert Pinera and I dreamed up a project to document the creative process - from idea inception, to the flushing out of intangible to tangible, and the eventual realization of the idea into living form. We teamed up with styling genius Rebecca Gallop of A Daily Something - she developed a layered mood board on the wall of my bedroom and styled a myriad of little tabletop moments, and for the grand finale - expertly laid our dinner table under a natural canopy of tree branches among the flowers at Fields of Flowers in Purcellville, VA.
This project was published in Volume XI of Belle Lumiere Magazine.
One thing that may not translate through these photographs is the summer rain storm that blew in just as soon as Rebecca was putting the finishing touches on the table spread. Not to be deterred, once the rain subsided we painstakingly dried everything on the table and salvaged as much as we could in order to complete the shoot. (I'm actually soaking wet in those last table photos.) I think this is indicative of our unrelenting resolve that the show must not only go on - but must be beautiful and realize everything imagined for the final product. We apply that principle to every event - large or small.
Thanks for helping to realize this day:
