This wedding last June in Paris was one of my favorites of the year. (Paris, Virginia that is.) The Ashby Inn is a treasure in that tiny Virginia town - and they make the most elegant, delicious food. (Brunch is a must! I could start a food blog just to write a whole post just about their brunch...)
Inspired by the Italian groom and the couple's desire for a vibrant, citrus/sherbet color palette, I drew inspiration from the apricot fruit - which is considered an aphrodisiac in many cultures - and built the palette upon peachy-orange-apricot hues using fragrant garden roses and tree peonies.
We covered the inn's outdoor veranda with branches, lights, and hanging votives to layer on texture and light to the space.
The day was simplistic yet thoughtful and perfectly suited to the setting. All beautifully captured on film by the immensely talented Amelia Johnson.
